Lindsey Chartrand is the owner and chief waffle slayer of Cake, Batter & Roll. Her food truck officially launched in spring of 2019 but that is not where it all started. Lindsey always dreamt of owning her own bakery. After graduating from St Thomas Aquinas High School in 1997 she continued her culinary training at Center for Culinary Arts. This was just to add to her inherited knack and talent for cooking and baking. She started learning with family recipes that had been passed down and has been working on perfecting her skills ever since. Before food trucks became popular she was looking for a brick and mortar establishment to launch her dream, then food trucks became wildly popular and she decided that was the way to go.
After narrowing down that Waffles would be her speciality she researched and perfected the original Belgian Waffle, the Liege waffle. Made with a dough versus a batter and with pearl sugar rolled in, it cooks at a low temp for the perfect caramelization. After buying a used bus she had it converted, equipped with waffle irons from Belgium, and hand painted by a local artist.
Lindsey has been in the food service industry for over 25 years in all different capacities. She’s mom to Mason, an official CBR taste tester. Lindsey is a lover of dogs, especially pitbulls, and is a dog mom to Barkleigh. She misses her first fur baby, Biggie, very much. Lindsey lives in Berlin but the food truck is based out of Farmington, CT. She can be found “rollin” in central Connecticut for events.
